Live online delivery — what this means
The CAIP at Fortify Institute is delivered live across four consecutive Thursdays in October — not as recordings or self-paced content. Each session runs 9:30am–5:30pm Irish time with a 2-hour break built in, giving 6 hours of focused learning per day.
All sessions are recorded — if you miss a session, recordings are available. However, the live format enables direct interaction with Jan Carroll, real-time Q&A, and peer discussion that self-paced study cannot replicate.
The programme is delivered entirely online. No travel required.
Access to the Fortify Community platform
All CAIP students receive access to the Fortify Community platform throughout their studies — a dedicated space for questions, resources, cohort discussion, and peer support between sessions. Recordings of all four live sessions are available here after each session.
Jan’s support does not end after Session 4. If you need additional preparation before sitting your exam, you can access ongoing support through the Fortify Community platform.
PECB CAIP certification
After completing the four-day programme and passing the PECB Certified Artificial Intelligence Professional exam, you are eligible to apply for PECB certification.
Two credential levels:
- PECB Certified Provisional Artificial Intelligence Professional — awarded on passing the exam with no prior professional experience requirement. Ideal for those entering the field or formalising existing skills.
- PECB Certified Artificial Intelligence Professional — awarded on passing the exam plus two years of professional experience, of which one year must be in AI. This is the full professional credential.
Both credentials require signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
The CAIP exam covers seven competency domains:
- Domain 1: Fundamental concepts and principles of artificial intelligence
- Domain 2: Data analysis and visualisation
- Domain 3: Building machine learning models
- Domain 4: Deep learning and natural language processing
- Domain 5: Knowledge and application of computer vision and robotics
- Domain 6: AI security
- Domain 7: AI ethics, governance, strategy
General information
- Certification and examination fees are included in the €1,999 course price
- 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits awarded on completion
- Hands-on labs delivered in a virtual environment via web browser — no software installation required
- Participants receive comprehensive PECB training materials including practical examples, exercises, and quizzes
- Candidates who complete the course and do not pass the exam on the first attempt are eligible for one free retake within 12 months
CAIM vs CAIP — what’s the difference?
The CAIM (Certified AI Manager) and CAIP (Certified AI Professional) are complementary but distinct certifications targeting different roles.
| CAIM | CAIP | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | AI management, governance, strategy | AI implementation, technical skills |
| Tools | Power BI, n8n automation | Machine learning, deep learning, NLP |
| For | Business leaders, managers, compliance professionals | Practitioners, data scientists, IT professionals |
| Coding required | No | Basic programming helpful |
| Price | €1,999 | €1,999 |
Many professionals pursue both — CAIM for governance and management expertise, CAIP for technical implementation skills. See the full AI training pathway →

Frequently asked questions
Do I need coding experience for the CAIP?
A general understanding of basic programming concepts is recommended but not formally required. The programme covers AI concepts at both conceptual and applied levels. Participants with no coding background can still complete the course and achieve certification — the practitioner activities use structured approaches rather than open-ended coding tasks.
Is the CAIP relevant for EU AI Act compliance?
Yes. Session 4 specifically covers AI security, governance, risk management, and EU AI Act compliance. Professionals with CAIP certification are equipped to implement AI systems that meet regulatory requirements.
Is the exam included in the €1,999 price?
Yes. The €1,999 fee includes the PECB certification exam, all course materials, and four full days of live instruction.
When do I sit the exam?
The certification exam is scheduled separately by each student via the PECB KATE platform after completing the four live sessions. You choose your own exam date and sit it online from wherever you are.
Should I do CAIM before CAIP?
No formal prerequisite. CAIM and CAIP can be taken independently or in either order. The CAIM focuses on AI management and governance; the CAIP on technical implementation. Many professionals find doing both gives them the most complete AI professional profile.
What if I can’t attend one of the four sessions?
All sessions are recorded and available to enrolled students on the Fortify Community platform. Contact Jan in advance if you anticipate missing a session.
How many places are available?
Cohorts are deliberately small to ensure quality of interaction and direct access to Jan. Early enrolment is strongly recommended.
Can I pay by invoice?
Yes. Email [email protected] to arrange invoiced payment for individuals or teams.
